Blessings during COVID-19

When COVID-19 hit America, I had felt weeks before that I was being led into a season of rest. Little did I know, it was going to be for all of America. During the beginning weeks of the shutdown the Lord gave me great peace. I had no worries or fear about our operations or financial position. I knew that I knew the Lord would take care of Rescue America, just as He has done from the inception of the organization. What I didn’t know was that in this season the Lord wanted to grow my faith far more deeply - for more than just believing that He was going to take care of us and the survivors we serve. He wanted me to believe for so much more - for the land that He has called us to.

God spoke clearly to me through a sermon on Genesis 26, when Isaac sowed into the land during a famine and reaped a hundredfold. It was a drop in my Spirit, and I knew that He wanted us to give into the land He has called us to...by giving to partner ministries that serve sex trafficking survivors alongside us.

After praying on this for weeks, it only became more clear that it was time to take action. As I was preparing for the Rescue America governing board meeting on April 16th, 2020, I had such an overwhelmingly strong unction to give. There was a deep presence of the Holy Spirit that I could not ignore. During the meeting with the board of directors they felt the same way, which led to the approval of the largest amount of giving to other partner ministries in the history of the organization. When the decision was made, it felt so refreshing to know we had been obedient to what the Lord was asking us to do. Because of my past faith journey in giving, I knew the Lord would give back to us, but I had no expectations or timing on what that was going to look like, or if we would even “see” or “feel” it.

Fast forward, exactly a week from when the decision was made to give, I was notified that we received a $70,000 donation from an anonymous donor! That afternoon, as I was looking at the details of the donation, I realized the check was dated April 17th, 2020 – one day after the decision was made to sow into our land. I was blown away, and in awe of the Lord and His ways. He not only gave us back what we had sown but so much more.

Our God’s ways are so much higher than our ways, and are completely opposite of what the world would say to do. So I encourage you, especially in this season, to ask God how you are to respond to what is going on in the world. His ways are greater. His ways are better.
