Why Outreach Hubs are Crucial
When I talk with people about the work that we do at Rescue America, particularly that we serve survivors of sex trafficking, so many people say something like, “Wow, you guys are amazing!” or “Wow, that’s incredible. I can’t imagine doing something like that.” And, I want to remove that concept from your mind right now.
YOU CAN do something that may be life-saving.
YOU CAN take a small step of courage. YOU CAN make a difference in a short amount of time that may just change someone’s life for the better. Forever.
Rescue America’s Outreach Hubs are an amazing way to partner with like-minded individuals who want to do something to help people who are experiencing sexual exploitation. Oftentimes people who serve this population need to have certain certifications or qualifications, but this volunteer opportunity does not require any previous training or experience at all. All you need to do is know how to use a phone or computer. (And in this day and age, I think that’s everyone!)
So what do Outreach Hubs do? Our Outreach Advocates share a message of hope and freedom to those who are being sold for sex online. By using our secure web-based tool, our volunteers call individuals to remind them they are seen and cared for, share our 24/7 Rescue hotline number, and let them know there is help available for them. Volunteers safely call phone numbers, using an outbound calling system, that have been scraped from online sex ad websites; no one sees the volunteers’ phone numbers, and volunteers don’t know the numbers they’re calling.
Our Outreach Hubs have already made thousands of calls in 2022, and tens of thousands of calls since inception in 2018. Each call, each conversation, and each voicemail is a seed of God’s Kingdom planted in the world. We don’t get to make the seeds grow, but we get to sow the seeds and trust, like a farmer, that fruit will be borne from it.
Many times, when we ask a caller to our Rescue hotline, “How did you get this number?” Most of them answer, “From a friend.” We have no idea how many of those friends received the phone number from an Outreach Hub call!
You can make a difference, in just an hour or two once a month, to help survivors of sex trafficking.
From the comforts of your own home, with a group of friends, or at your local church with others who want to do something in Jesus’ Name, the call you make may be life-saving.
We are looking for Outreach Hub leaders, who are ready to be Ambassadors in their local communities. Our hope is to continue expanding our Outreach Hubs throughout the United States. Please find out more at www.rescueamerica.ngo/get-involved.
Do something.
