5 Ways to Fight Sex Trafficking

Every day through force, fraud or coercion, thousands upon thousands of women, men, and children are being sold for sex to countless buyers in every city in America. These survivors live through a darkness that no one should ever have to face, but there is hope, and there is something YOU can do to make a difference.
Here are 5 ways you can get involved in the fight against sex trafficking:
Volunteer - Make an impact with your time
Do you want to give hope to survivors? Our volunteers bring hope and freedom to those trapped in the darkness. If this is something you have a passion for, we have a place for you! There are currently two different opportunities to serve alongside us in our mission to rescue, revive and empower the sexually exploited:
Outreach Advocate - Our Outreach Advocates meet monthly at our Rescue America Outreach Hubs to call numbers from online sex ads and offer a message of hope and a safe opportunity to exit the life through our 24/7 Rescue hotline. These interpersonal exchanges have proven to be one of the most educational, profound, and impactful services - both for the volunteer and the victims.
Hotline Advocate - Our Hotline Advocates answer the calls to our Rescue hotline, acting as the voice of peace when a sexually exploited survivor courageously takes the first step to exit the life. Your task is to first and foremost express your love for them while collecting information on their location and situation. This essential information you collect will be the first step in a potential rescue.

2. Donate - Fuel the fight financially
Do you want an opportunity to make a tangible difference in a survivor’s life by supporting the fight financially? You can become a Rescuer today with a monthly gift of $25 or a $300 single gift. Your financial investment will not only provide for the immediate needs of a survivor when she exits the life of commercial sexual exploitation, but you will also give her the gift of hope as she takes her first steps towards healing and the encouragement that she is worthy of new life ahead of her.

3. Pray - Intercede for survivors
Prayer is essential in this fight. If you have a burden on your heart to intercede on behalf of survivors, we invite you to do so! Set aside time each week to pray for justice for the oppressed, freedom for the captives, and rescue for the enslaved. Read through the survivor stories we’ve shared on our social media, seek the Lord’s heart for them and pray His truth over their lives! We have seen specific prayers answered time and time and again - prayers for provision, for partnerships, for rescue and much more - and we do not underestimate the power of prayer! God is mighty to save, and He loves it when we bring our requests to Him, speak forth His truth and agree with His heart for redemption.

4. Learn the Facts - Be equipped with the truth
Did you know that sex trafficking most often does not look like its Hollywood portrayals like in the movie Taken? Did you know that pornography plays a huge role in sex trafficking? Did you know that there are more sex trafficking fronts in America than there are Starbucks? Did you know that survivors come from every race, age, socioeconomic background and more? Sex trafficking is all around us, but far too few people know what’s happening or what the truth behind the matter is. By taking the time to learn about the problem, you can become an advocate for survivors and be equipped with the truth when it's time to share.

5. Spread Awareness - Invite others to join the fight
Once you know the truth, share it with those around you! Spreading awareness is crucial to get more people involved in the fight. Ending sex trafficking will take an army, and you can be a part of building that! You never know what spark you’ll ignite within someone with just a simple conversation or a shared post.
